Mature gate and character discovery

Before displaying the catalogue, Joi asks visitors to confirm they are over eighteen and notes that explicit material can later be disabled from account settings. The resulting directory supports creator, adult-age, gender and scenario filters.

Cards show a name, age, short premise, creator and engagement counters. These help discovery but do not establish character depth. Read the profile for a clearly adult identity and avoid cards whose age, source image or consent status is ambiguous.

The public gate is a useful warning layer, not proof that every community profile is safe. Report exploitative material and keep all custom characters fictional.

Text, voice and video-call roleplay

In the service terms, a virtual friend is described as an AI companion capable of text and voice interaction, with video calling offered in supported cases. A consistent identity across those formats could deepen a scene beyond plain messages.

“Where available” is an important qualifier. Access may vary by character, account, device, plan or region. We did not verify latency, voice emotion, call stability or whether the model preserves the scene when switching format.

Start with text and a simple consent-aware premise. If the character cannot respect point of view, pacing or boundaries there, additional media will not repair the roleplay.

Create AI, images and video

Public navigation exposes Create AI, image generation and video generation. These tools can give a roleplay identity a consistent visual reference, but promotional gallery images should not be treated as examples of an ordinary first attempt.

Run a neutral identity check before adult scenes: same face, different outfit, new lighting and a short movement. Inspect hands, facial continuity and frame transitions. We did not run these jobs, so no output ranking is claimed.

Keep custom identities adult and fictional. The Terms prohibit illegal exploitation and sexualized content involving anyone under eighteen or appearing under eighteen.

Memory and personalization remain unmeasured

The Privacy Policy says Joi may process facts about users and their lives to personalize conversations. That confirms personalization-related data processing, not a published context size or guarantee of perfect long-term memory.

Test continuity using invented harmless facts and a fictional preference. Revisit them later and check whether the bot recalls them without inventing private details. Delete the test if the account tools permit it.

We did not perform a multi-session test. Claims about emotional growth, deep memory or cross-format consistency would be speculation.

Neurons, subscriptions and monthly quotas

Support articles explain the in-product currency called Neurons and point to methods for collecting some without a purchase. Another article states that benefits on a yearly subscription refresh every month; paying annually does not create one unrestricted twelve-month pool.

Current plan prices and the complete Neuron charge for each action were not visible in the public sources we inspected. Before subscribing, identify which chat, image, voice or video features use Neurons, the monthly inclusion, rollover policy and failed-action treatment.

Separate two budgets: the subscription needed to unlock access and the usage currency needed to sustain a media-heavy scene. Start monthly unless the free experience demonstrates repeated use.

Privacy of adult conversations

Joi’s privacy notice rejects renting or selling personal data. Conversation disclosures are limited to listed operational and legal contexts, including affiliated entities, professional representatives and vendors that may host or analyze information for service delivery.

Profile details, email, age and facts shared during chat can be processed. “Not sold” is therefore not the same as “seen only by you.” Use a separate email and keep addresses, workplace information, financial details and non-consenting third-party data out of scenes.

Check account deletion and retention controls in the live service. We did not submit a privacy request.

Warnings, refunds and account controls

Public support topics cover proof of age, account warnings, card removal, failed payments and refund questions. This documentation is useful, although no cancellation or refund request was submitted for this review.

Adult content does not mean every scenario is permitted. A warning can reflect content rules, consent concerns or legal restrictions. Do not try to bypass a safety intervention with disguised prompts.

Choose Joi when cross-format companion interaction is the priority and you are willing to inspect the live Neuron tariff. Choose SpicyChat when context transparency and a public price table matter more than video-call positioning.
